Procedure for Cleaning Whirlpools After Every Use

  2. If manufacturer's instructions are not available for disinfecting, a bucket should be used to fill the whirlpool. This will tell you how many gallons of water it takes to fill the whirlpool above the water inlet jets. Using a permanent marker, mark the water line.
  3. Fill the whirlpool to marked line, above pump pickup inlets.
    1. Dilute disinfectant in the water according to manufacturer's directions.
    2. Turn on circulating pumps to circulate disinfectant.
      1. Turn off pump.
      2. Allow disinfectant to stand for 10 minutes.
      3. Drain.
      4. Refill with water. Turn on the pump for one minute. Shut off the pump and drain.
    3. Disinfect the rest of the whirlpool using a trigger sprayer filled with a disinfectant cleaner. Spray solution, then agitate with a white scrub pad all the following areas. Keep the surface wet for 10 minutes.
      1. Handrails
      2. Stairs
      3. Saddle
      4. Sidewalls of whirlpool
    4. Rinse whirlpool with clear water.
    5. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
    6. Now ready to be filled for the next use.

Procedure for Periodic Deep Cleaning of Whirlpool

Rust and hard water stains can be cleaned using an acid based cleaner.

  2. Drain whirlpool.
  3. Spray the acid based product on whirlpool surfaces.
  4. Agitate with white scrub pad.
  5. Rinse with clear water.
  6. Wipe dry with a clean cloth.
